VISION
In 2024, I worked on ITV’s Vera as an Art Department Assistant, collaborating with the lead graphic designer to create bespoke, story-driven props and graphics for the show’s final ever episodes. My role involved concepting, designing, and physically preparing graphic elements that brought depth and realism to the sets.
PROCESS
As part of the Vera art department, I contributed to a wide range of graphics and props, working closely with the team to meet the needs of the script and bring the world of the show to life. It was a fast-paced, collaborative process where the smallest details were just as important as the big moments.
Some of the key contributions I made include:
PHOTOS
I conducted a character photoshoot for a hero graphic used within the story. I directed and photographed multiple cast members in costume, then edited the images to create a piece that featured as a key visual in the show.
BOOKS
I designed and wrapped a stack of fictional book covers, tailored to sit naturally within a character’s space.
WICCA POSTERS
I was asked to curate a range of Wicca-themed posters for a child’s bedroom. Under the design producer’s direction, I sourced online materials to match the character’s spiritual beliefs and interests. I then dressed these into the set.
WITCH HUNT POSTER
I created a hero poster for a local annual witch hunt, prominently displayed in the fictional town in the final episode. The design needed to feel like a local, community-driven event while still fitting the darker tone of the show.
CCTV SCREEN
I was asked to encorporate multiple still-images and footage into CCTV graphic for a background monitor, which I set up and tested on set to make sure it all worked coorectly before shoot.
PAPERWORK
I helped to produce various graphic prop paperwork—such as witness statements, crime scene photos, ANPR hits, and on-screen emails—ensuring everything matched the script and added realism to the scenes
SIGNAGE
I was tasked with designing and coordinating the production of signage for various locations. I worked with the Art Director to ensure the designs were correctly sized and then sent the final files to the printers/sign makers for production, taking care to match the look and feel of the environment.
